Eye Candy for Readers

I have a chaotic book system in my home. First, let's look at those photos:

A bookcase in my messy office A close-up of the office bookcase A tall bookcase in my, as I already said, messy office A box of books that are set to be sent to members of Books Lost & Found. [Hm. I'm trying to remember who asked for those Kate Ross books]
Books in the first bookcase are, mostly, the "TBR" pile. I say mostly because there are some books that fall under 'Half-Read, Must Finish Some Day', some fall under 'Have to Read, Even If I Hated What I Read So Far', and some fall under 'Quick Reference Desk'. The tall bookcase contains books that I read and enjoyed, but need to give away/ donate to charity shops. I think. Oh, and some books that are waiting to be sent to various friends. [I need a secretary.] At bottom, there are games that are wondeful for those evenings when friends are over for some drinks and food. Yet there is no 'keeper' bookcase because they are still boxed. STILL BOXED! I couldn't find photos of book boxes that lined two office walls [you can see glimpses of white Staple boxes in the 'books to be sent' and 'tall bookcase' photos]. We didn't unload those boxes when they arrived from Scotland because a) this place is a temporary stay [the longest six-month stay; one year and still counting] and b) we were expecting to move into our house a few months ago, but the house sale fell through. Will and I agreed to leave them boxed in my [mostly unused] office, so when [not if, when!] we moved, we will have a library of our own. I can't wait because many of my favourite reference books are in those unlabelled boxes. *cries* [May I point out that Will has two massive book boxes of his own. So I'm not the only bibliophile in this place, I swear.] Be good, be bad & be safe

Maili,
Just wanted to let you know i recently located a book that says its COMPLETELY OK to have a library full of books that are TBR.(at least that's my take on it.. LOL)

Someone else whose bookshelves are just as much a genre jumble as mine!

...Do I see an Elizabeth Moon novel in that stack? Did she get decent covers in the U.K.?
(thank goodness they didn't recycle the Baen cover, *cough*, they're all ghastly)

Phew, now that you have changed the banner, is it safe to say that the kid one was creeping me out?

Beth - *laugh* Thank you for making me feel better. A lot better! I've just placed an order for a copy of Leveen's book. Thanks. :D

Meril - :D I have another bookcase that shelves mystery, horror and chick lit novels. [I admit I didn't take a photo of that because I didn't want to come off as a sad reader who can't be loyal to a genre.]

Yes, that's a Elizabeth Moon book, HUNTING PARTY. I haven't read it yet. :> I have no idea if her covers are considered good. *off to look at US covers* Hm, I can't tell:
US cover / UK cover

Sybil - hey, thank you. :)

CindyS - actually, the one you saw shouldn't be up there in the first place. It was one of banners I created to see which is best for this blog. Yes, it's safe to say it, but I'm not listening because I really love that kid. :>

Hehe, my bookshelves are a genre rumble in four languages where the Illiad (German translation) keeps company with Kushiel's Dart, Les Misérables (in French), Moberg's Utvandrarna (in Swedish), Eliot's Daniel Deronda and some of Halldór Laxness books, Anglonorman epics, McMaster Bujold and Diana Gabaldon. And that's only one shelf. :)

My TBR pile? Don't get me started on that subject ...

Hey Maili, Nice look to the blog!

BTW, where'd you get the picture of the pooch? I've got a live one that is, right this minute but minus the combover, snoozing under my desk and bearing a spooky resemblance to that photo. I'm wondering if whoever took it also has pictures of his siblings (who are also snoozing around my feet right now).

Also, I ordered The Body Electric based on a recommendation you made for it somewhere (SBLTB??).

I was wondering where the other post about the sailing race went, too. It was such a cute story!

Gabriele - lovely. Four languages? Go ahead and make me feel inadequate. :) Oh, go on. Tell us about your TBR pile! You know you want to. Please do blog about it.

Robin - thank you. :) Oh, I'm afraid I can't remember where I found the pix last year. I'll try to track it down and when I do, I'll get in touch with you. Ooooh, you ordered BODY ELECTRIC? I hope you'll enjoy it. I talked about it everywhere [from here to Tara Marie's blog and from there to God knows where], so it's very likely that you read my 'I lurve this book!' at SmartBitches' blog. And by the way, when are you going to have a blog of your own?

Lindsay - thank you. :) Any chance you'll post photos of yours on your blog?

Jill - ah, bless you for saying that. Thank you.

Nicole - Err ... *blinks*

Suze - lol! Thanks. Will wasn't exactly amused when he read the post. "Do you have to tell the others I fell asleep while you yanked my trousers off?" "Actually, I replaced 'trousers' with 'jacket'" "No, you didn't ... oh, yeah, you did." *headdesk*

Nicole - Hm, hm ... You're on his side, aren't you?

Amy - :D Amen. [I like that: "book rich". Nice.]
