Walk Like a Drunken Baby

"No self-respecting superhero would wear open-toed shoes."

-- A guy on AC Transit
I have been up and around since yesterday and this afternoon I left my home for outside for the first time in two months. I decided to celebrate the end of the bed rest hell by visiting Solihull's shopping centre Touchwood. First thing that hit me was the noise. Cars - beeping, zooming past, revving, doors slamming shut and many noises; people - walking, talking with various accents and pitches; shoes on marbled floor at Touchwood, and outside airplanes roaring above our heads. These just came at me from all directions. My God, though, I never had so much fun shopping. It was a 'buy, buy, buy!!!' spree. I never felt such at home as I did then, abusing our plastic best friend. Unfortunately I had a friend with me to "supervise" me [she said it's not "supervision", it's "making sure that I don't fall over and smash my head to pieces on some corner" and "making sure that I don't go too wild with the money", but I disagree]. Example: I wanted to buy this handbag, but she looked at the price tag and said, "Remember Will said no more than fifty for a bag. This is way over fifty". Actually, this is how it went between us all afternoon: Me: Oh, look! Nice. Her: *look at a price tag* Me: Oh, come on. Her: I'm only looking! Me: Did I say I'd buy it? Her: Did I tell you not to buy it? Me: Do you have to look at price tags? Her: No, I don't have to, but I want to. I'm curious. Me: *huffily* Fine. Her: We're here to enjoy this place, not to go barmy. Let's go. Me: I'd not go barmy. Her: *laugh* Me: Nice. Here I was, thinking that you were my friend. Her: I am. Me: Will doesn't have to know. Her: I would know, love. Me: I'll make you suffer some day. Her: I'm suffering. Me: I don't think I like you any more. Her: *weeps mockily* Me: Oh, look! Niiiice. Her: *looks at a price tag* Me: Hey! Her: I'm only looking. All f. afternoon. Still, I had a great time. I do feel exhausted, though. Happily exhausted, anyway. :D Link of the Day: In Passing [Thanks to Jay for this wonderful link.] Be good, be bad & be safe.

I'm glad you made it out, even if it didn't go 'exactly' like you'd planned. ;-)

lol hey, I'd probably be like your friend too. I'm always looking at the price tags. Of course, I'm also rather cheap at times. Most times. Except when it isn't my money.

Jordan - heheheh. In fairness she treated me to a lovely meal as a celebratory gift. Bless. :)

Nicole - oh, god. I rarely look at price tags, so when someone does, it drives me batty. Will's learned to do it behind my back, though. Oh, you aren't being cheap. Just sensible. Oh, I like spending money that isn't mine, e.g. Will's. Hur hur.

Candy - Yay! Yes. :D I did try to find that glass thing but they didn't have that sort. *cries* But no worries, mite, cos I plan to take a trip to Birmingham in the near future. :D

It took me a couple seconds to figure this out, heh heh. So you did THAT sort of shopping too, eh? *waggles eyebrows*

Did I ever mention that mine is freezer safe, microwave safe and dishwasher-safe? I'd love to leave it in the dishwasher some time. It'd give the housemate quite a turn.

Err...do these glass things also come in plastic and silicone varieties? Or do I just have a really dirty mind?

Is it a glass thing you two are referring to or a pyrex thing?

And Maili, I'm so glad you got to go about! I realized today I hadn't left the house in four days and I thought that was a long time. Cheers, babe, to you and your shopping binge!

Candy - uh, yes. And FU for taking the mick out of me.

Nicole - yes, you got it right. :) Nope, you don't have a dirty mind. Just savvy. I'm avoiding the mention because I know my [TWELVE YEAR OLD] niece is an occasional visitor to this blog [WHICH YOU SHOULDN'T BE READING!].

Kristie J. - what can I say? :D

CW - cheers for that. :)

AngieW - If I have to tell you, I'll have to keel you. *Brainy-styled laugh* Thanks. I didn't realise how long it's been. Just thinking about it makes my skin shriek with terror.

Nicole - I have noooo idea. If I do find one, I'll scan the damn price tag and upload it to this blog.

Okay, it was totally what I was thinking of. And I have one :)

And really, pyrex, not glass. Glass is rather...dangerous.
