When I first heard Piatkus bought UK rights to Gaelen Foley's historical romances, I was curious to know what will they do for book covers of Foley's British editions.
A year later, here are the results:
Lord of Fire - Gaelen Foley

The Duke - Gaelen Foley

When I discovered that Piatkus also bought UK rights to
Liz Carlyle's historical romances, I did a search and found the difference between these two covers quite interesting.
One Little Lie - Liz Carlyle

More book covers:

Piatkus books [Howard, Krentz, Roberts and Quick] do their best to show that they are not romance novels, which is typical of this country. :D Frankly, I'm quite glad because at least I get to read these books in public.
FWIW, I really like the US cover of
Krentz's
All Night Long. It's absolutely gorgeous, but I'd go with the UK cover if I want to read
All Night Long in public. :>
Be good, be bad & be safe.

I'd have to say, I definitely love the UK covers on most of these.

Definitely, the UK covers seem prettier.
But why leave the key off the Liz Carlyle cover?
But I have to say the Gaelen Foley covers almost amount to false advertising. Anyone picking those books up expecting something Heyer-esque are in for a shock. *snicker*

I like the UK blazes better but the Foley's I like the US better.
hmmm Carlyle is an either or...

I prefer the Foley covers from the US (Canada;) but for the rest, I do prefer the UK covers. I actually like that the key was left off of the Carlyle cover. Something sensual about the hands.

The UK blaze are much more sensuous, which is interesting!

I *really* like the UK Blaze covers. Yep, definitely more sensual.

I prefer the UK Blaze covers too, I think they're much more subtle.

Wow, I hated the US cover for Truth or Dare, and oh, how I wish they'd used the UK cover (which I've never seen - thanks).

Wow, the UK knows how to produce covers!

I think US Blaze covers look more optimistic and cheerful.
LOL to false advertising, re: Foley's UK covers. I think they have those covers because both will be in hardcover. *cocks eyebrow* It'd be hilarious to imagine how the blue-rinse brigade will react when they read Foley's books. Hehehheh. Hold on. Quite a few British novels have demure covers with steamy contents inside. It's a British tradition, I think. Hm ... oh, my god. No wonder why my gran had that secretive smile!
Jo Leigh - oh, you do have strange looking men on US Blaze covers, specifically THE ONE WHO GOT AWAY [US Blaze cover].
Here's the UK Blaze cover of TOWGA:
Jill - yes, but not always. Mills & Boon does come up with a few clunkers. Here's an example:

Oops. Wrong cover. Here's the correct cover of ABAICB.

Interesting that the Blazes seem to have couples on all of them. Also, the difference in color is unique. I guess muted/softer is more favorable in the UK.

Jordan - I noticed it as well. There is a very few UK Blaze covers that have just the man alone. Usually those were taken from US Blaze covers of same titles, interestingly enough.
US Blaze covers do have couple covers, but there are more man-only covers than there are couple covers. I was going to mention it but decided against it.
re: colours. I think the US has such a *huge* book market that US book covers have to be assertive and strong-coloured to command a book brower's attention.
With UK covers, it's along the line of "Aw, you're feeling cold, aren't you? Poor mite. Come and pick me up and feel the warmth. You know you want to".
Well, that's my theory, anyway. :D

Thanks for the pic of UK copy of The Other Weird Looking Man Who Has No Upper Lip Who Got Away. I have to say, I winced when I opened that box. The UK version is much better. But I personally think my worst cover is SENSUAL SECRETS - US version. Can we say skanky ho and pimp???
